The job: We’re hiring an operations manager to oversee day-to-day operations for one of the fastest-growing coffee roasteries in the UK while helping deliver genuinely ground-breaking change to the coffee industry. We’re looking for a remarkably kind team leader who has the experience to manage logistics, HR and finance functions while helping us workshop clever ethical solutions that go beyond “business as usual” in specialty coffee. There’s loads of room for growth and influence in this position.
About Skylark: Skylark is the only not-for-profit coffee roaster in the specialty tier, and our entire operation is aimed at making the coffee supply chain more fair and transparent while holding public conversations around coffee ethics and sharing our solutions. We continue to double in size every year, and this is the year when we think we’ll start to unlock some key solutions in coffee sourcing and transparency.

Operations manager key qualities:
- A warm and kind person, happy to work with a neurodiverse group of people.
- A detail person, experienced in managing ins and outs + production and workflows.
- An experienced team leader who can oversee a project.
- Strong, relational communication skills.
- Flexibility for a growing/evolving company and role.
- Coffee knowledge and IT savvy is helpful but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Managing daily roastery operations, stock levels, safety processes, etc.
- Managing supplier relationships, esp. for packaging and other dry goods.
- Managing shipping service providers and negotiating prices.
- Helping to manage key pieces of financial tracking and reporting.
- Managing HR functions and company policies.
- Optimizing and adjusting workflow for the packing team as we grow.
- Troubleshooting customer service issues in coordination with the sales team.
- Maintaining back-end fulfilment systems in connection with the websites.
- Chasing accounts receivable.
- Collaborating on innovative, transparent solutions to processes like invoicing, labelling, etc.
